BC Child Care Workforce Survey
The British Columbia government – with support from the Government of Canada – has a 10-year plan to increase the quality, affordability and availability of child care. This includes an ‘Early Care and Learning Recruitment and Retention (ECL R&R) Strategy’ to support people who work in child care.
Early Childhood Educators of BC (ECEBC) is coordinating an evaluation of this strategy, and has asked the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation (SRDC) to help with the evaluation. SRDC is an independent Canadian non-profit research organization. As part of this evaluation, SRDC wants to hear about the work experiences of all individuals who are part of the child care workforce - including substitutes and early childhood educators who are not currently working in the sector - through this survey. Your participation is very important to this evaluation.
SRDC will store your answers securely in a password-protected environment. No one outside SRDC will see your responses or know how you responded. SRDC will only report grouped answers to inform future efforts to support the recruitment and retention of child care staff in the province. SRDC follows a strict code of practice.
Completion of this survey is voluntary; you may stop completing the survey at any time. This survey will be repeated every year until October 2021 to measure changes over time. Your return participation is very important to the success of this work. Once the evaluation has been completed in 2022, SRDC will destroy any identifying information it has collected from you.
This survey will take approximately 20-35 minutes to complete. You will have the option of saving your answers and receiving a unique link via e-mail that will allow you to complete a portion of the survey and return later to finish the rest from any device. If you need additional support to complete this survey, you can leave a message with an SRDC interviewer to call you back at 1-833-298-3016 toll free at any time. Or send an email to the address below.
As a thank you for your time and survey feedback, you will receive your choice of poster about the impacts of ECE on child development or an online professional development opportunity developed by ECEBC. You will also have the chance to win a $50 Wintergreen Learning Materials gift card or a $500 gift card from select retailers.
The more responses we receive, the better the survey will represent the views of the child care workforce in the evaluation of the strategy. Please encourage your team and other child care providers in your community to complete the survey by November 17, 2019.
